KOTAA holds its annual meeting during the TRB Annual Meeting period each year. It is a time for networking among KOTAA members, activity reports, and academic presentations.
2026 KOTAA Annual Meeting
Date and Time
KOTAA annual meeting will be held on January 11, Sunday, 6:00PM.
Please note that on-site registration may take longer than usual due to anticipated high attendance. We encourage you to come at least 15 minutes early.
KOTAA travel grant winners are requested to arrive by 5:00 PM, as the award ceremony will take place before the main meeting.
Location
Room 102B on the street level of the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, the TRB annual meeting venue.
From the main entrance, walk past the TRB Annual Meeting registration booth and turn right. Room 102 will be in the corridor on your right.
The location of the networking dinner after the meeting will be announced during the meeting.
Registration Fee
Registration will be held on-site. Please pay your membership fee on-site.
Membership provides annual access to job opportunities, networking events, and a complimentary dinner valued at $80 following our annual meeting.

Your contributions directly support the next generation of transportation professionals by funding travel grants for undergraduate and graduate students in both Korea and the U.S. to attend TRB and other professional development opportunities.

2025 Annual Meeting Highlights
We were joined by 142 KOTAA members at the meeting.
Among the 142 participants, 46 (32%) came from the U.S., 95 (67%) from Korea, and one from Switzerland. By occupation, 51 (36%) were professionals, 88 (62%) were graduate students, and three were undergraduate students from Korea!
This meeting had the highest attendance in KOTAA history. We sincerely thank all members who participated.
A total of $1,845 in donations was raised.
Six members generously contributed donations to KOTAA:
- Dr. Daewook Park, Kunsan National University: $1,500
- Including donations from industry partners – Poinix, Yoonsung, SN construction
- Dr. Byungkyu Brian Park, the University of Virginia: $200
- Dr. Kwangwon Lee, University of Rhode Island: $100
- $45 from others
There were two remarks from Dr. Jeong Whon Yu, President elect of Korean Society of Transportation and Dr. Byungkyu Brian Park, former president of KSEA and KOTAA.
Two Best Paper Award winners presented their research:
- Eunseo Ko (Hongik University): Can Public Transit Demand Be Predicted by Urban Imagery and Deep Learning? A Separable Latent Vector Approach
- Garyoung Lee (Georgia Tech): Empirical Verification that Traffic Flow is on the KPZ Universality Class: Implications for Traffic Congestion
